HP has installed a built-in chip on each of the 4 HP 9500 imaging drums to make sure that you replace the C8560A, C8561A, C8562A, C8563A image drums at certain intervals based on the set page yield. In most cases it is not necessary to replace the drum when you get the replace drum error message. If the drum you have was working correctly with good quality prints before your HP 9500 priinter displayed the "Replace Drum Unit" message then the drum can be reset simply by sticking on a new chip. The new chip which will reset the page counter and you can print again.
One chip will reset one drum. Chips are colour specific.
How to install the HP 9500 imaging drum reset chip :
- Using a small screwdriver, pry the original chip off of the imaging drum
- Remove the adhesive backing from a new chip
- Place the new chip on the cartridge and press down to stick
- Note: The angled area on the chip must be aligned with the angled area on the cartridge
- Done !
